Born William Thomas Brooks 3rd. In Phoenix, Arizona March 13, 1931. Went to Emerson Grade School and North Phoenix High School and Phoenix Collage, Arizona State College that is now Arizona State University and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California. Raised by Grandfather and Grandmother, George Frank Larison and Mary "Sharp" Larison at 1813 N. 10th Street Phoenix, Arizona. Mother and Father were, Marion Frances Larison and William Thomas Brooks Jr. After spending a few Summers working in Western Films in Northern Arizona and Utah and getting his Pilots License in the late 1940s went into the U.S. Air Force in 1950 at the first part of the Korean War flying in B-29 Bombers. Marriage to Martha Lou Cooke in 1950 in Denver, Colorado. The first of Three Children Born was Daughter Paige in 1951 followed by Daughter Gail and then Son William Thomas Brooks 4th. ================================ After the end of the Korean War in the mid 1950s returned to Phoenix, Arizona and went back to work at the Mountain States Telephone Company as a Engineer and remained there until 1966. After studying Judo at the Kodokan the main school of Judo in Japan in the 1950s and early 1960s took over as the Chief Judo Instructor in the late 1950s at the Phoenix Y.M.C.A and taught there until 1966. ======================================== In 1966 moved to San Simeon, California and bought the "Golden Carriage Pancake House Restaurant. Had two tough years before the Restaurant began to make money. The Hearst Castle is on the mountain at San Simeon and many people come there to see the Hearst Castle in the Summer Months. Later built a 50 unit Motel behind the Restaurant called the Golden Carriage Inn. In the Mid 1970s bought the Paso Robles Flying Service at the Paso Robles, California Airport. The Flying Service had a contract to fly the William Randoph Hearst Family when they were at the Hearst Castle in the Summer months, and was fly many of the rich and famous to the Hearst Castle for the Hearst ! William Randoph Hearst Sr. was the Man that built the Hearst Castle and the Hearst Wyntoon Ranch Complex in Northern California at the Southern Foot of Mount Shasta. In the late 1970s started a Commuter Air Line called "Golden Carriage Aire" based at Paso Robles, California that serviced Central California and all the small Towns between Los Angeles , San Francisco and Sacramento. Also built up a small 55 Ac. Ranch Mid- way between San Simeon and Paso Robles, California and raised Polled Hereford Cattle and Arab Horses. Was asked by William R. Hearst Jr. to do a Western T.V. Cooking Show that was called "Chilibill's Kitchen" and did 13 Shows in a studio in Paso Robles, California. And would do over 150 more shows later in Sedona, Arizona in the early 1980s. Also at this same time produced a T.V. Tour Special on The Hearst Castle with a Rare Interview with William R. Hearst Jr. About his Father building The Castle on The Enchanted Hill at San Simeon, California. ========================================= In 1981 sold out all holdings in California and moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona that is on the Colorado River and had a Restaurant called "Chilibill's Magoos." And then moved to the Verde Valley in North Central Arizona near the Beautiful little Town of Sedona, Arizona that is one hundred miles north of Phoenix Arizona. Many Films were done here in the late 1940s and 1950s. After buying a house on a few Ac. of land about 5 miles south of Sedona began to fly for Northern Arizona Aircraft using the one remaining Navajo Twin Engined Aircraft from the days of the little Golden Carriage Airline in California for charter flights and keeping active in aviation flying all the Movie and Television People that now lived in Sedona, back and forth to Phoenix and California. Was asked to do more "Chilibill's Kitchen" T.V. Shows and a Set was built for the Video Taping of the shows in Jane Russell's Restaurant in Sedona, Arizona now known as the "Coffee Pot Restaurant" and did over 150 more "Chilibill's" cooking shows with many Well Known People as Guests. At the same time was ask to Produce and Direct a T.V. Series of 7 one hour shows to be called "The Gunfighters" about the Best known Gunfighters of the Old West. After completing the "Chilibill's" cooking shows for T.V. and "The Gunfighters" series took a break from the Entertainment Business. ====================================== In the 1990s formed a small company called "Tynajet Engines" and began to build small Gas Turbine Jet Engines using small Gas Turbines left over from the Vietnam War to be used in a cheaper Target Drone Aircraft by the Military to use at the 29 Palms, California test Site . Then the Military went to Computer Simulators, because it was less costly than Shooting Down the Real Thing. In 1998 after John Glenn had gone into Space for the Second time William Brooks Applied for Astronaut Training under the New Senior Astronaut Program, to Test older people in Space, and then the Columbia Shuttle came apart while coming back from Space, and the program was put on hold. This is William Brooks speaking. Then on December 13, 1999 "Martha Lou Brooks" My Wife , Partner and Sweetheart of over 55 Years Past Away of Cancer. A few of my friends and their Wives from the Old Air Force Days in the early 1950s Flew in to Phoenix and then drove up to the Verde Valley to my little ranch. Bud Burkhart my commander in S.A.C. Had stayed in the Air force in S.A.C. And had become a Two Star General, and Jerry Brown had become a Successful Auto Dealer. After Reliving all the Good Old Days for a few hours Bud, Jerry, and My Son William and I went to the Cottonwood Airport and took Martha's Ashes and flew them over to "House Mountain that is two miles South of Sedona and about one Mile North of my place." General Bud Burkhart took the Controls while I Dropped Martha's Ashes on the Top of House Mountain near Sedona, the same place that I had put my Mother and Step Father just a few years before. ======================================= Then came The Darker Time of My life Without Martha Lou My Wife and Sweetheart Of 55 Years ! |
